I was interested in a property listed for sale with this agent, and communicated directly both by e-mail and telephone. I was told that an offer had been made on the property but not accepted.
I told the agent I would have to hire a car to visit the property and an appointment was made and agreed, my partner took the day off work to travel with me.
Travelling through torrential rain during the 4 hour journey to the property, we found the property then travelled to the agents office but was told Charles was not in, they confirmed my appointment to view and gave me a printed set of the particulars / plans.
We attended the property meeting the owners father at the premises, who opened the property for us and we looked around 15min later while back outside we were informed the property was SOLD. A complete waste of time and money, both for fuel, car hire and my partner's loss of a days work. We then had a four hour drive back home again in the bad weather.
I was disgusted, I wrote to the agents on returning home who after one week still had not replied, I have since written again, asking for their complaints procedure, and which ombudsman scheme they belong to, along with details of the business and if they trade as a company or sole trader or partnership. To date I have had not even the courtesy of an acknowledgment let along a reply or so much as a apology.
I would not recommend this agent for selling or buying if this is how they treat customers, I will continue to pursue for compensation as the way I have been treated is totally unacceptable.
It is little wonder estate agents get such a bad reputation if this is how they treat potential customers.
