Purplebricks Portsmouth sold my property in 10 days and for 100% of the asking price which I was very satisfied about. However, I made the mistake of accepting the conveyancing firm allocated to me through the house sale: LawComm. I am now into my fifth month waiting for the sale to go through after a cacophony of failings on their part i.e. it took LawComm 3.5 weeks to contact the buyers solicitors, they sat on the enquiries from the buyers side for 3 weeks before they sent them to me - to the wrong address. In fact they sent another important document to the sale address - not the correspondence - on one further occasion and also sent a personal email to the wrong email address as well. I feel fortunate that the buyer is committed and has not walked off (or died of old age..) waiting for LawComm to get their act together. Even small stuff like showing me where to sign on the form was overlooked, necessitating me to sign the form again. You could not pay me to use this firm again. I estimate I have lost to date £900 in extra mortgage payments that due to the slow progression this sale (an uncomplicated freehold transaction, no chain, with a buyer's mortgage), I do not expect to have completion before Christmas so will that will be over £1300 wasted by end of 2017. Very disappointing.
Comment on agent fees
I think Purplebricks' estate agents fees are fine. As I stated above the conveyancers fees are not worth the wait. You could not pay me to use LawComm Solicitors (Whiteley) again.

Stuck in a chain with one party using these absolute cowboys. Everyone else is ready to go but they did nothing for nearly 3 months. Now they have repeatedly sent the same queries that have been answered and won't speak to anyone, even their own client. We've been told they also demanded an extra £1000 to speed up when they should have done everything already! I'm expecting someone in the chain will get fed up (probably me) and pull out soon as it is an utter joke. I'm sure we could get a new buyer and move before this outfit get their act together. I will never, ever entertain the idea of dealing with any buyer that uses or has anyone in their chain that uses these people.

Purple Bricks have been a nightmare to deal with. It took 2 years for them to find a buyer for our two bedroomed leasehold apartment. Since then, we have been waiting seven months for the conveyancing to be completed, and it is still not done . They do not reply to texts or emails and you can't get through by phone. I have done a lot of the searches myself and sent them the information. After complaining to their after sales support department, who are nice but toothless, and the solicitor's complaints department and sending messages to the buyer's solicitors they are at last moving but still very slowly. Our tenant has now gone so we are left paying a mortgage with no rental income. A simply appalling service.

As someone stuck in a chain with a Purple Bricks conveyancer, AP Lawyers, after 4 months when everyone else was ready to exchange they realised they were missing paperwork. They had refused to look at the file on another day when the rest of the chain had expected to exchange. We’re considering giving up as we feel like we are going no where. Only good thing is at least we are not the ones having to pay them. Disgusting behaviour.

I used purple Bricks and the sales agent was great, however, the law firm have been entirely inadequate. DC Law have failed to communicate, have not acted as I have instructed them and we may now lose our sale/purchase - a really poor outcome. I would recommend not using Purple Bricks as you have to buy them off to use a conveyancer of your own and the ones they are supply are substandard companies.

I was considering using this company and even had the women come out to the house. She was very rude about my house and its potential price, when I know other houses in the street have been sold for considerably more that she quoted it was worth. Not sure what her game was, but now I have read all these reviews, has completely put me off. I will go for a local agent instead, who I know sell houses well

Exactly same experience, we lost our sale because of the incompetence of Law Comm and the property is still on the market now after 8 months. They failed to send documents over to the buyers solicitors for three months and I could not contact them, didn't answer emails or phone calls. Shocking! I wish someone had warned me before signing up.

Totally agree. We were happy with Purplebrick but used the solicitors they allocated us. Total disaster and sale fell through. Sold with another firm and agent in the end. Plus you have to pay not to use their solicitors!
