I rented an apartment through Latymers in Hammersmith which I was assured would be professionally cleaned prior to my move in. When we arrived we found the kitchen caked in black grease, the carpets filthy and the bathroom filled with black mould, I also had to rebuild the pipes under the kitchen sink at move in as they leaked heavily. It took four weeks to obtain the check-in inventory, which when presented to me was a copy of the previous tenant's report from 2012 which had some scruffy handwritten notes over the top. At the same time I was chasing a certificate as proof of my deposit being protected which was difficult to obtain from the office. To rectify the situation they sent the inventory clerk back to re-visit, where I was called a 'spoiled millenial' for asking for a full, up-to-date and professionally written inventory as well as photo evidence of the damages in the flat.

At move out I had to continue to chase up my check-out inventory report and repeatedly phone to ensure my deposit was sent. Initially they attempted to charge me to clean to flat despite the horrendous condition I received it in but after a slightly heated phone call, this charge was removed. I received my deposit back minus a considerable charge for the inventory.

I would also like to point out that the agency has no membership of NAEA, ARLA, NFOPP, Guild of Property Professionals or any other serious governing body to make complaining about their lack of professionalism extremely difficult.
Comment on agent fees
The one redeeming factor is the lack of agency fees, however I would recommend keeping an extremely close eye on your deposit

Latymers have a dedicated property management team who work tirelessly to ensure that any issues raised are resolved as efficiently and effectively as possible. The suggestion that Latymers did not do any work required is simply false. No query raised was not addressed promptly and in this case particular care was taken to ensure that the best possible outcome was achieved on behalf of the tenants. That could not be true, we have a very strict policy when dealing with tenant's deposits and we always use independent accredited inventory clerks and fully protect all our tenants's deposits with mydeposits.co.uk. If you've had any issue with your deposit, I will be happy to resurrect your file no matter how old it is and review the inventory and the reports produced by the clerk and put it before an arbitrator to reach a fair conclusion to all parties. ...
