Yet another money-grabbing letting agency which doesn't care about its tenants, and whose staff seem to forget that despite the property being rented, this is still the tenants' HOME, and should be treated with respect.
The flat was dirty and mouldy when I moved in; I spent an entire day cleaning including cleaning white mould off the bed and black mould off the walls. The carpets were absolutely disgusting; I had to pay for heavy duty carpet cleaner and spend a lot of my own time attempting to make the carpets bearable. Professional cleaning was definitely NOT carried out before moving in, but of course upon moving out extra charges for cleaning were removed from my deposit, despite the flat being in a much better condition when I left it than when I found it.
Emails were not replied to; on the rare occasion they were, the staff were short and rude. Repairs were not carried out (I had a freezer and a boiler that were barely functioning), and on the rare occasion (after much badgering) when something was fixed, they usually sent the most incompetent people imaginable to carry out the work. This resulted in three separate major leaks; on one occasion the whole living room was flooded which ruined my wooden desk.
As I previously mentioned, these letting agencies and their staff fail to remember that these properties are the renter's homes. More people than ever are forced to rent these days, and it seems the entire system needs a drastic overhaul in order to prevent tenants getting ripped off, and the letting agents continuing to benefit.
Think twice, three times, even four times when choosing who to let from, and when you do make your decision, keep a detailed inventory and, if possible, photographs of any defects in the property or its furnishings. You will need these when they inevitably try to charge you for something extra upon your lease ending.
