They lied about the severity of the damp problem when I moved in, then refused point blank to do anything about it, despite the fact that black mould grew floor to ceiling along every external wall.
They sent me a standard letter telling me to keep the heating on and the windows open, then got snotty when i asked how much of the gas bill they were willing to pay as did not see why i should pay to heat outside because maintenance is beyond them!
After a year they came to do double glazing. They wanted to take a load bearing post from the porch (it held up upstairs) so they got contractors in, who cut a chunk out of the post, realised their rsj's were about to collapse and just welded the old section back in!
Then the contractors disappeared, and the agents left the flat with 3 inch gaps under the windows (i could put my hand through to outside) for three months! The porch wall only had the block side, they left the brick side dismantled, and the weakened support post left in place. I left before they got around to fixing it, and the damp was so bad that a load of my furniture fell apart when the removal men tried to move it.
The new tenants who moved in when i left were planning to re carpet the place at no cost to the agents (the new tenants said this at the viewing) and they told me they still planned to take a chunk out of my deposit for carpets, even though they were in a state when i moved in, although they didn't in the end but only because i threatened them with trading standards.
Avoid at all costs.
