I lived in a shared accommodation managed by Dexters.
I found a new tenant to take over my room and moved out of the property end of July 2017. The new tenant provided all the relevant documentation straight away and made the deposit to Dexters in mid September (there were a few offline agreements between myself and the new tenant in regards to the deposit - landlord was happy with condition of property after I moved out).
I have been asking for Dexters to return my deposit since. They tell me that they cannot return my deposit until the new contract is signed. It has taken Dexters over a month to simply complete the process of creating and completing a contract. Even when all the documentation and funds were made available.
I desparately need the funds but am being told that I will need to wait. Very slow service and no initiative to complete the job at hand - even when they charge a ridiculous £240 administration and reference fee.
They have made the whole process stressful. I've contacted TDS and they suggested that I contact the citizens advice bureau.
Avoid Dexters where possible...
