I went through this agent to try and sell my property over 2 years ago.
During this time they managed to obtain 0 viewings in 6 months, that is until I told them I wanted to terminate the agreement, then they managed to find a viewer. This, however, does not form the basis of my issue.
I terminated my agreement with Fox and Sons, receiving no formal notification of this on their behalf, and moved to another agency.
2 years later I received a letter from Fox and Sons stating that I owed them money for a HIP. I went down to th branch to discuss this matter having been told previosly that all matters between myself and the agent were settled. On showing the manager the letter he asked to read it as he had no knowledge of it's contents. Very professional! He informed me the matter would have to be referred as my property records were now with their head office.
I have registered a complaint against the company as they have, in my opinion, broken their terms of service multiple times and the matter has now been referred to the property ombudsman.
Don't use them. They are impersonal and awful to deal with. Go somewhere else instead.

lower the value of your house or pay the HIP. 3 years on the market, is hardly a motivated seller. you signed the contract that stipulated the agreement. if you did not read it then that is you choice. sorry for poor grammar but on a hand held device Oct 25, 2012
Hi we have had our place on for 3 years with no viewings at all and now they have said 'they have terminated our contract and oew them £500 for HIPS, any advise ?
