The location of the house in the middle of Durham is fantastic, ignoring the fact that there are several nightclubs in the vicinity. The room sizes are good and there is ample communal space, as well as a good number of bathrooms, all reflected in the premium price. However, the place was not clean, the freezer full of ice with 'bits' stuck to it, the dryer full of water and fluff, the furniture was very flimsy, handles and chairs' legs came off here and there, some windows had secondary glazing, some not (more noisy and draughty), there was even a crack in one of them. During the really cold months the heating broke down and was not seen to for two weeks. Small electric heaters - and not enough of them - were distributed around the house, not downstairs though, where the bathrooms are. The dishwasher broke down, and because of the broken boiler the water for the washing up had to be heated in the kettle - all a bit tricky when there are six people around the place. The ironing board and iron were broken and the internet was super-slow!!!!!!! It's very time-consuming to report these problems and to follow them up when there is no response. Quite frankly, you don't want to have to deal with these sorts of things when you pay that much money for your accommodation. Finally, it took a long time for the deposit to be repaid, earning a little more interest no doubt! I would look at this place very closely indeed before committing to it.

Dear Mr George,
The process of returning deposits is not a simple one. Most houses
are left in a great condition and if there are any deductions for breakage etc they
can usually be agreed without need for arbitration. However, if we return deposits
without comparing our check in inventory and condition report with its check out

We are sorry that you seem so aggrieved however we cannot comment on your issue as we are unaware of your property address. I understand that you may wish to remain anonymous .
However I can comment on most of your issues in a general sense.
As regards renovations – we do carry out repairs to all properties as they arise but renovations are different in this case we do shut the house down.
