What can I say about my experience with Doorsteps? Nothing short of it's been an absolutely excellent experience!
The thought process was, do I pay for a local estate agent to do the internet marketing for me, or do I pay £99 and let the Doorsteps team list for me on Rightmove/Zoopla et al, and have a go myself given that in my opinion, that's where the vast majority of people search for properties themselves these days. The difference between the high street and local estate agents is that the local agents have a mailing list that they would email your property out to - but I believe that is the only difference, and, more than likely, the mailing list are still searching online themselves! My second doubt was, would a local call rate put people off using a London based firm for making viewing appointments when we're many miles away. The answer is a resounding it doesn't!
From initial contact for re-assurances before paying online, Akshay and team responded at weekends and evenings, and, having had an EPC undertaken ourselves, outsourced floorplans, and written our own descriptions and taken our own photos, our property was on the market in a matter of hours on Doorsteps own website and Rightmove's. (Zoopla themselves seem to follow suit a few days later). We had our first viewings booked in more or less immediately!
Viewings are confirmed by text and email to both the vendor and prospective buyer, and within 2 weeks we had the offer we wanted! Krishnan followed up both with ourselves and the buyer with requests for solicitors details, a copy of the buyers mortgage decision in principle document, and subsequently sent out the letters to both parties solicitors, us, and the buyer with copies of the memorandum of sale which he'd produced within 3 days of the sale being agreed. On the telephone all the team are knowledgable, friendly and helpful.
Doorsteps staff seem to me to be extremely hardworking and determined to make a success of their business by putting in long hours. Yes, they've automated a lot of the text and email confirmation processes, but quite right too. If you need local handholding, glossy brochures and your house in the window of a shop front locally, Doorsteps isn't for you. If you've done your research into the market price locally of your property, can write the marketing literature accurately in the style of an agency, and do have the use of a wide angle camera lens (which is what local agents told me they use!), we are proof that you can successfully receive offers on your property and get your house to SSTC stage for £99.
