I had problems but I think doorsteps are going through a transitional phase as they have grown. They didn't list my property on their website for 3 weeks after it was listed on right move and I really had to chase for this to be listed. They changed their domain name whilste.property was listed and didn't change any of the links or graphics which meant that people couldn't email or link to them for a while whilst they got the redirects sorted our. I had people knocking on my door claiming they couldn't get hold of anyone to book a viewing. I complained several times but the service didn't really improve. In the end a walk-up purchased my house and I ended up dealing with him directly then telling them that the offer was accepted. It was good that they have 24/7 coverage and that they get you on to rightmove but be warned that to stand out you'll probably need to pay one of the feature fees and you will have to chase them constantly to follow up on viewings - this was a particular frustration because sending an email out to get feedback is in my opinion too passive, especially when their domain had been tagged by the large email providers (Gmail etc) as spam so people didn't even get the emails this led to a bit of a communication black hole - I asked for them to call and chase but i suspect this is above the level of service their operating model allows,.they did reluctantly call a few people but I always had to chase for feedback. When I did speak to someone they were always helpful. In the end I received an offer on my property but doorsteps actually had very little to do with it. I think the service may have since improved but my experience was poor. They were very cheap and my house is sold but I'm not sure I would use them again and I think they will likely disappear once right move offers you to list the property yourself. The agent they sent round was really good but he was a freelancer and had just been contracted for the day. Ultimately I think the things I found frustrating would be fixed by providing better service but this would cost a lot more. Ultimately you get what you pay for and doorsteps are very cheap.
Comment on agent fees
Initial fees were good but there are lots of bolt ons that mean the cost goes up (for sale boards, photos, premium listings).
