Can you sell your house for £99? Yes. Yes you can! I don't blame you for being nervous. I was too. I came across doorsteps randomly having google searched online estate agents when we decided to put our family home up for sale. I saw an article which listed the usual suspects-purple bricks emoov etc. There was a table with prices, what was included and reviews with a blurb about how good value for money doorsteps was (though new to the market). I called my mum and told her I'd found the answer to her prayers (they were nervous about selling so finding an agent that needed little initial outlay helped convince them to give it a go and see what happens). I can't lie I called the number on the website to check they were legit before paying up. I spoke with Akshay who explained they did everything any other estate agent would do aside from viewings. (Note: you have to be prepared to conduct viewings yourself or an online agent will never work for you! The positive to that is you can arrange them at a time that suits you including evenings and weekends). I paid up and would say within a week we were live on rightmove, it only took that long as I was away and didn't have time for the lovely chap who called that evening to come over and do photos and floor plans. The reason I knew we were live was that I had a call for a viewing the very same day! Within a week we'd had 3 viewings and an offer. Within 3 weeks we'd had a few more viewings and 2 more offers. We're currently under offer (so haven't gone the whole hog just yet) but so far I can only say that I haven't regretted the decision to go with doorsteps. I've had contact with a few members of the team but by far my favourite is Krishan. They send you emails of viewings booked in (after calling to negotiate availability). I've asked for feedback because I'm inpatient but generally they seek feedback from potential buyers which is really useful for seeing if you're in the right direction with pricing, appearance etc. One thing I would say is get 2 local estate agents in to value your property so you can use those figures together with those provided by doorsteps to decide what you put it on the market for. Krishan kept in touch with everyone who had offered on the property (and obviously tried to negotiate on our behalf) and eventually got us a buyer. They have checked proof of funds to make sure they are in a position to purchase the property. All the usual things you would expect from a traditional estate agency. The other benefit is that you can actually negotiate with buyers yourself if they agree to swapping of emails and numbers which again Krishan has facilitated. He's also called me out of his working hours (and on a weekend) as he had seen an email from me and wanted to touch base before picking up again on the Monday. In short - yes there's little things that will need tweaking. Weekend cover is sketchy. I've not called up in the middle of the night (I don't know why anyone would lol)but they are a 24/7 agent. I don't know if I was meant to latch onto Krishan as I have (sorry buddy) but I think having a case/file manager from the off would be good as they then have very good knowledge of your property, your expectations or goals etc. Doorsteps is a young company with young dynamic individuals working for them (this makes me smile) it's not perfect. Nothing is!! However I can't say that anything has put me off using doorsteps in the future or recommending them to others. For the cost you cannot go wrong with giving them a go. The quality of their photos blew me away (I'm a hobbyist photographer so am very particular about how the photos should look). The floor plan was very detailed (better than some high street agencies). Give them a try. You know you want to!!
Comment on agent fees
Very affordable and the best price around for the level of service
