Well where do I start, having worked in the industry for 7 years, I can say that I have never been treated as badly as by this agent.
From the start of the tenancy they had conducted an inventory, after requesting this 4 times it was never received
We had hot showers for the first 3 months of the tenancy and it took numerous emails and calls to actually get someone out for what should have been a simple fix. There were various other items that never got looked at despite being a health & safety issue.
However my main issue is with how the deposit was dealt with.
I initially contacted the office who stated that Mike Shrubshall, the person dealing with this was off on leave and no one else could help, After finally receiving a response off Mike it was then clear that they were looking to deduct monies from the deposit, it took a lot of prying to find out what this was for and they immediately initiated a claim with the DPS rather than trying to resolve informally.
I then was met with responses of:
"As you are aware spending time on deposits is of no benefit to ourselves, they do not make money and with the time spent on them is actually considered only an expense to the business"
&
"That's fine. Unfortunately having been handling over 4,000 tenancies in nearly 10 years during my time with Martin & Co I have the experience to say that deposits are not something that should have time spent on them"
Surely an agent would take some care in deposits as this is their last tie with a tenant and would want to leave a lasting impression that they have dealt with it in a professional manner? obviously not the case for Martin & Co
Anyway after having to go through the dispute process with the DPS they awarded in my favour as they could see that the flat was left spotless.
There is such an abundance of agents in Cardiff and I'm sure the majority of others will treat you better than these.
It is all simply about securing a let and after that little or no care is taken to uphold client satisfaction

Dan, people are entitled to an opinion and just because I don't agreed with yours why does that make you feel entitled to insult me. Also it sounds like you are making a threat to the Estate Agent now, I do hope there is nothing in this as it would look particularly bad on you if there was. Your "property sector" experience would make you realise this. Can I ask what area of Property it is. Customer Service maybe? Aug 21, 2017

What a ridiculous comment, you so say have "worked in the industry for 7 years" well, it is clear that your business needs to spend more time promoting itself rather than trying to put down the competition. Estate Agents do not have the best reputation and you 'Dan' ( if that is even our name ) well and truly live up to their reputation. I bet your company is really happy with you for wasting their time and money that they are paying you to do some work.
