Worst experience with any Letting Agent I've ever had. Would recommend avoiding them 100%
They initially told me I could move in one date, and then when it came to start paying them they decided I couldn't so I had to delay my move.
I had no experience moving cities so had no idea what I was doing. And from that point on they definitely took advantage of that or were just so poorly managed it came across that way.
They'd come for viewings without telling me first, despite having my number and email address when THEY wanted something. This happened on more than one occasion.
A friend of mine actually came to view the property on one of those occasions and they'd tried to let themselves into my room. It was locked, which actually baffled them because they somehow had in their records that the room was unoccupied... My friend explained that wasn't the case.
We found evidence of mice pretty quickly living there and a severely damaged window in the living room. So in the winter there were rodants running around in the summer we couldn't open said window at all. Despite trying to resolve the issue nothing was done.
A year after starting my tenancy I understandable had had enough and wanted to leave. As I was returning my keys I asked when I could expect to get my deposit back, and they told me it'd be x number of days after the property (a shared house) was empty. This wasn't in my tenancy agreement, as it was a student property and all of our tenancies were supposed to end on the same date.
So id apparently have to wait for the last tenant to leave a month after me. I explained I had taken photos and cleaned the property etc with a housemate who was also leaving that day, and asked what would happen if the remaining tenant damaged or messed up any communal area - I was told I'd have to travel back to Plymouth when the last tenant leaves and clean/inspect for damage again despite living hours away.
Guess what happened? I was emailed saying they'd be taking a large chunk of my deposit because of communal damage and mess. I obviously stood my ground and argued my case. They eventually (reluctantly) got in touch with that final tenant and he admitted the damage was done by him. I'm so glad I didn't just pay like they pushed me to.
They still wanted to take a substantial amount out of all of our deposits though. I questioned many times where exactly that money would be going and what the mess was. I was eventually told the back door had dirt on it... Despite me having photo evidence that said marks weren't there when I left I was told they were still going to take the money and if I wanted to I could take the issue further (which could take months) with the company holding my deposit. I understandably needed the money back and couldn't afford to wait that long so had to give in.
Honestly, just look at all the reviews on here and REALLY question whether it's worth the risk. Property Links were rude, patronising and generally far worse than all of the other places I've dealt with since.
