Awful customer service. They appear very helpful and friendly while your trying to come to a rent agreement, but once you sign the contract and they have there agent fees they couldn't care less. Throughout our years tenancy in a student house, we had countless problems with Ocean. Firstly by B*(at the Bradley Stoke branch) lying to us so that he could quickly resolve a tenant swap. Then throughout the year having most of our maintenance requests ignored. We where fortunate in that the landlord gave us his phone number for maintenance queries, so we where able to skip out Ocean as the middle man. What topped off our immense disappointment towards ocean was the outrages 'damage' charges at the end of the tenancy. Some of it was reasonable, however most of it wasn't. For example we where initially charged £60 to repair a windows handle due to 'misuse'(how can you misuse a window handle?). My housemate researched the cost of the handle and found it was only £6! The landlord did all the maintenance on the house himself, so there is no way the £54 could of been for labor charges. My house mate had to appeal this and the charge was dropped. He shouldn't of had to appeal though.
Since being with Ocean I have heard many other horror stories from people who have used Ocean.
During the whole time we where with Ocean it felt like all they cared about was how can they make an extra pound rather than insuring there tenants where happy.
Comment on agent fees
Way too much and so was the guarantor fees compared to other estate agents.
