ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I have been with some bad letting agents in my time but these guys really took the biscuit. They were very attentive and thoughtful up to the point where we paid our deposits and first rent instalment but after that we were pretty much ignored. We had to get the council in to address some pretty big fire safety regulation violations. Two of us had broken beds and one of us didn't have a wardrobe or chest of drawers was was promised in our negotiations. We also didn't have a working oven for the first two months. One night I got a leak and after trying all of the emergency contact numbers several times no one answered and the phones got turned off! What is the point of having three emergency phone numbers that don't get answered?

We tried for months getting in contact with *JF, who seemed to have been hired just to palm us off with excuses about why things hadn't been done, often blaming the owner of the property for not having signed things off. They were always very unwilling to put anything in writing.

In order to deter future tenants, we ended up putting up a white board with problems and the dates that had been reported, with a date that they were resolved (if ever) next to the entrance. It turned out that the owner of the house wanted to sell it, so when he came around to get a valuation he saw the board and left us a note. Apparently he had not even been told about most of the things on the list! He very nicely left us a bottle of wine each and things got sorted much quicker when we started dealing directly with the owner of the house.

Take home message: DO NOT RENT FROM SHEFFIELD RESIDENTIAL. They evidently only put effort into their estate agent business and ignore their rental tenants.
