Clear to see there is a pattern of rudeness to potential tenants and disregard for landlords lack of rental income with this guy. My wife and I haven't rented for over 30 years and had only decided to do so now so we can use our money to build our own house, and what an eye opener this guy has been. I called regarding a property -advertised as 'Bearsden' area when it is clearly the back end of Faifley, should have heard alarm bells right there! After hellos I'm interested in said property I was asked 'do I work?' My reply that I run my own business was met with a weary sigh and a response of ' mm I don't think your suitable as a tenant'. Within 30 seconds this Self Employed man, and I use these words very loosely, has told me I am unsuitable to rent a property from a farmer who is also self employed, to say I was astounded is an understatement! This guy is playing god with other people's income. He sits in his poky wee old fashioned smoked stained office-a far cry from the elegant picture showing on his website- making uneducated guesses depending on how he feels that particular day. He didn't ask what my business is, were it is or even if I had references from previous landlords. I spoke to the landlord direct and he was clearly taken in by Gordon Shields' promises of getting a plc tenant because apparently plc workers' money is guaranteed … yeah cause they don't ever get payed off or have any money worries or gamble etc etc right? I even offered 6 months rent upfront and a personal guarantee (a privilege usually reserved for banks etc) but no Gordon had made up his mind and Gordon clearly doesn't back down, mainly I'd assume because he is getting paid regardless unlike the poor landlord. HOWEVER he did offer us another house along the road… still can't decide if he was trying to be helpful HA or just prefers that landlord to the farmer? Either way he is an unprofessional, unlikable and arrogant person with no people skills! He is verging on being a charlatan with giving one impression to the landlords that pay him and an entirely different impression to people wishing to rent their properties. Avoid like the plague!

I totally agree with you Pete,they are losing landlords money, hand over fist ,by their attitude towards potential tenants ,they seem to have delusions off grandeur and landlords are having to reduce their rents or their property is lying empty for long periods, of course they have to vet potential tenants to protect clients property but surely if they are given references and 6 months rent in advance plus a deposit this should be sufficient.

What agent could do to change your mind?
A simple response, Apology and getting a viewing at a time that is conveinent is Great Service - thats the difference small family companies have over larger competitors - you are not using your advantage very well. Train you staffAttached Filesnbsp;
