I used Lewis Wadsworth's services (if you can even call them that) for a year. In that year, there was never any communication between me and the agency, not when something needed repairing, not when there was a problem. The property I rented was falsely advertised as two double bedrooms, but when I went to look at it there was actually only one double bedroom, the second room was the size of a matchbox, but I was told by the agent that apparently a double bed can technically fit in the room, but I'd have to buy the bed myself. Unfortunately, the flat was cheap and I was desperate for accommodation so I took it anyway and what a mistake that was. The furniture in the living room was old and broken - I had two sofas, both of them were dirty, disgusting and broken, the entire time I lived there the agency refused to change them. My washing machine and drier were fire hazards, they were both at least from the early 70s. My cooker was probably even older and every now and then would randomly leak gas. My front door had two locks, but I was only given a key for one of the locks so once I accidentally got locked out and had to deal with the agency, which ended up in me being locked out for hours because no one could be bothered with coming to simply unlock a door I was clearly supposed to have a key for anyway. I moved out over a month ago now and Lewis Wadsworth is clearly trying to scam me out of my deposit money. They've been atrocious at getting back to me, I've had to call and call to ask where my deposit is and every time I call I get asked about my bank account details and nothing else, no apology for it taking so long, no explanation as to how much of my deposit I'll be getting back, nothing. At last I was told I'd be given back less than half of my deposit back because I'd left a dirty oven and food in the freezer - both lies. The agency clearly relies on people getting fed up with them and just ending all kinds of communication so they could not give any deposits back or if they see you're persistent they come up with some made up story about what a mess you've left and how their hands are tied. Greedy, rude, absolutely unhelpful scammers is all I can say to describe Lewis Wadsworth. DO NOT use their services unless you want to deal with money-grubbing idiots, who don't care about you and are only looking to defend their own interest.
Comment on agent fees
It was cheap but what else would I expect for the horrible flat I stayed in, the property was old and run down and needed some serious work. Only took it because of the price, then immediately regretted it.
