The man who runs this agency told me that the landlords on his books don't like renting to single mothers as they usually come with trouble. Little did he know (he never bothered to ask) that my children are actually of young adult age (18 and 21) and both at university and I am a professional earning within a high income bracket and I am a widow. Its besides the point; many single mothers are normal amazing people who work hard to maintain a roof over their heads for their children. Perhaps he would have got away with this comment 20 years ago but is now deemed as discrimination and hugely stigmatic. Its against the law to turn down someone who is a single parent. Mark my words Mr Brown, if I hear reports of you saying that to others in this town, I will be calling the press and the ombudsman.
Oh, and before I finish this review, it would be good for people to know that this man doesn't like renting to those with animals yet when you visit his office, he has a dog who is lovely but absolutely stinks the office out. Its never been bathed. Perhaps bath your dog and clean your office including the carpet, then you will have a good argument.
