Appalling service from start to finish, between myself and my two housemates we have experienced at least ten different lettings agencies since 2010 and by far our experience with Dexters has been the worst. It takes a huge length of time to solve any issue and we often have to phone and chase the problem ourselves rather than relying on the property agency to do so.
We were promised things on agreeing to rent the flat that were never delivered, it took two months into our tenancy for the flat to be professionally cleaned even though this was in our contract. The agent said the place would be re-carpeted (still not) and repainted before we entered the flat however this did not happen until two months in. We still have a car key fob that is falling apart and does not work reliably - this was presented to me in pieces on the first day we entered the flat and I was told if we wrap tape around it, it should work!! My flatmate has also had to pay a car parking fine for parking in our allocated space that apparently he needs a permit for that we were never told about and never given when moving into the property. We have chased and asked the agency for a refund but this has yet to materialise. Obviously this is completely unacceptable.
Most recently we have not had a working oven for two months, considering we pay an enormous amount of rent for our flat this is not acceptable. We have had the oven replaced once, and it is still exhibiting an electrical fault that the Dexters electrician cannot locate so we are receiving yet another oven on 1st July which is still a week away. This will then probably still not work so the merry dance will continue - why Dexters cannot arrange for an oven specialist and an electrician to visit the property and ensure a working oven is installed at the same time is beyond me... clearly cutting corners and saving money is the priority over a decent quality service. Previous property management agencies have sent someone over on the day to check out the issue and then sent a specialist around the day after to sort the problem - with Dexters everything takes weeks and time on our part to chase.
People within the Borough office have been apologetic on the phone but either this is meaningless or they are constrained within a system that means they have to hire the cheapest help or are so over-stretched they cannot get things sorted in a timely manner. If the service I provided within my own place of work was this bad I would be called to account.
