DO NOT GO THROUGH ASHLEY CHARLES. Please be aware they are out to scam and make your life a misery. The company owner ‘AJ' is just a bully and needs to be reported. It has been a year since I last rented with them and I am still awaiting my deposit. The house was spotless and could not be faulted upon leaving however I was soon accused of damage and cleaning costs that were simply not real/ needed. A threatening letter was sent stating I would be charged because I hadn't used their recommended cleaner which it turns out was owned by AJ. I have since submitted photographic evidence to the tenancy deposit scheme capturing the state of the property when I moved in and when I left out of fear this would happen. The results show Ashley Charles do not have a leg to stand on. I have recently heard they have gone out of business so the ‘threat' to take me to court should see my deposit returned soon. There really is no need for this behaviour. I believe everyone should be treated fairly and not have to face ridiculous agency fees and ‘random' inspections that make you feel uneasy in your own home. Please don't make the same mistake I did and please listen to the review's as it appears I am not the only one who has had a bad experience. I have many stories regarding how they tried to rip me off, threaten, make false accusations and add to my stress levels... but I think I've wasted enough time on them!

May 16, 2017Hi we recently left from a property that AJ owned. He only gave me back half of my deposit with deducted agency check out fees, administration fees and cleaning fees. He gave half of it back without agreeing it to me.... Did you get anything back? really annoying as mine is now released from the deposit scheme or they were that dodgy that it never was in a deposit scheme?!
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.

The agent fees are not that bad at £350 when some charge £600+ but still for the service they offer that money is too much

Ashley Charles has been SHUT DOWN by Trading Standard. The business was run by a disgusting bully, friendly when you first look at the property, then as soon as you move in the hell starts. Too much money spent on the agency fees, property contract renewal admin fees. And after all this the agent behaves in an insane way!
