We were rented the property with with what we found to be existing problems that 2 previous tenants had complained about. There is damp through the the downstairs of the property with damp as high as 5ft up the wall in places. The back door has a gaping hole between door frame and does not lock form the outside so not secure. The front door which is a reclaimed barn door does not meet the door frame or have a threshold so is sealed off and unusable. Only half the windows open meaning if there was a fire we would struggle to get out if upstairs. Boiler had not been serviced and inefficient and leaking oil with high carbon dioxide readings and using 1000 litres of oil in a month. The taps weren't working properly, toilet flush broken, the 2 showers don't work and one leaked through the ceiling in the living room. Smell coming up through ensuite drainage constantly. Shoddy workmanship throughout property means there are gaps through to cavity wall around Windows and floors so we get wasps, flies and any bugs you can think of living here. These gaps also mean there is a drafts everywhere. Epc rating carried out by this agent is incorrect as it states has wall insulation when it does not. No repairs were done by the landlord and were referred to the agent who sent over people to look at the property on 4 occasions but nothing was ever fixed apart from a tap. spent 6 months in this property fighting for repairs done. landlord does not want to repair anything so they will rent to next tenant with same issues. This agent is just taking their fee for renting a substandard property and pretending they don't know anything about it.
Comment on agent fees
Fees ok if property was rentable in the first place.
