I have been absolutely disgusted with the service from Doorknobs, Tunbridge Wells. The flat was rented out to me without following fire safety - the smoke alarm system was faulty (as verified by the fire service) and all the extinguishers and fire blankets had expired 5 years before my move in date. When I phoned about the faulty fire alarm system alarming every 9 minutes, I received a very unhelpful text message saying how it was not their responsibility - although the fire safety regulations state otherwise.
The flat was dirty when I moved in, the oven was disgusting, the curtains were marked and the drain of the shower leaked, which caused mould. Upon leaving the flat, I was emailed with multiple deductions from my tenancy deposit, even though I had left the flat in a much cleaner state than before moving in. The deductions were vague and when questioned they were using examples that I had already spent a day and a half cleaning before moving out. I would never recommend using these agents, they are unhelpful and try to take huge amounts from your deposit without any evidence.
Comment on agent fees
The rent was average for Tunbridge Wells...the deposit deductions totalled approximately £300 (the total amount is still to be confirmed to me).
