I had the TERRIBLE experience of having to deal with the incompetent letting staff at the Kingston Upon Thames branch of this organisation. While dealing with letting agents in general can be difficult at best, these guys bring it down to a whole new level. I agreed to let a property in Surbiton on condition of a number of tasks being completed as the property was in the process of being renovated. One such task was to install blinds in the bedroom as there were no curtains, upon numerous so-called cancellations and promises that somebody would turn up to fit these I was then informed that only 1 of the 2 windows in the bedroom would be fitted with blinds as the 2nd window was close to the wardrobe and this was considered to be a 'dressing-room'.......unbelievable! After a week of arguing they eventually conceded only after I was able to provide written evidence of our initial correspondence over email. I was new to the suburb and advised by the letting manager that while the flat was located close to a road (Ewell Road) it was 'not a very busy road' only to subsequently find out there was constant traffic both day and night and it was exceptionally noisy and difficult to sleep. We subsequently moved out after just 5 months as a result of the noise as neither of us could sleep. Hamptons charged us over £1,250 in penalty fees to end our lease early.....having known that our primary criteria was to find a quiet flat in a good area. I believe they knew this would most likely happen and that if/when it did they could double their fee/commission. To add insult to injury they advised their client (our landlord) to charge us £350 when the cleaner we had booked to clean the property cancelled at the last minute due to illness. Thankfully the DSS saw through this when we took a formal case against them. Absolutely disgusting behaviour........AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

Extremely disappointed by the service. After a recommendation from a friend, we had regular contact with Malte Lau. Unfortunately his own interests came before that of his customers. It’s a real shame as Hamptons had such a positive reputation and now I will be ...
