Do not use Contempo... whether a tenant or a landlord. We rented a property from them... never again. We were over a month without a working cooker, we waited over a month for them to fix a toilet seat and we didn't have light in our living room for over a month (in fact it was still not fixed after we moved out. Seems the norm to wait ages on repairs. We also were without hot water and heating for a freezing cold day in December... we were told someone would come out that day... we waited until 5 but no sign of anyone... we had to chase them up (twice) for someone to come out. It was 9.30pm at night someone finally came. Grant (Branch Manager) just fobbed us off blaming it on the contractors for the delay.
They also asked us if we could be in for a property viewing as they didn't have a key - any good letting agent would have went out and got another key cut if they didn't have one.
When it came to moving out we were charged for light cleaning. We were told when we gave the deposit that they would get cleaners in to clean the flat (the property was already tenanted) so they presumed that the current tenant would be paying for a cleaner. I challenged Grant and he said of course we have to get cleaners in... otherwise tenants would leave them as they like. But there is nothing on the lease saying it needs to be professionally cleaned... but they are really sneaky as it needs to be in the same state as what you found it so I would recommend that if you are unfortunate to rent one of their properties that you get cleaners in before you vacate. We challenged Grant on issues we had during the tenancy but he just ignored them and never apologised for the bad service we received. We wouldn't have minded paying for the cleaning if we had excellent service for our tenancy - but it was far from that.
I'm going to be really annoyed if there is a reply from Contempo saying it does not match any of their tenancies - because that's not true.

Myself and my flatmate made our issues extremely clear (living without water for over a fortnight is not something we would keep quiet about). I'm sure we explained at the time that we are not allowed to spend for this property without the landlord's written permission which can (and did) lead to delays, which we find just as frustrating as you... believe me I hate to read poor reviews of my business.

The customer service needs worked on greatly. All that I was looking for was an apology for wasting my time and improvements made on the advertisement. There was no remorse shown for the error by Contempo Lettings but instead a level of rudeness.Attached Filesnbsp;

The portal that I had initially found the advert on was LettingWeb and the portal that the member of staff had mentioned was Citylets so there should have been no problems with this. Either way, neither of the sites stated this information and it is an important detail to be mentioned. With the help of the SafeDeposit Scotland, I am able to get back almost every penny claimed by the Contempo Lettings, Aberdeen. I am got back the entire amount M/s Contempo Letting hd claimed for the breakage in the flat and towards cleaning of the flat. But ofcourse, I could not get back the extra days rent as I had already agreed to pay it to them. I believe, if I had not then I would have get back that too!! Unfortunately Sasha did not state that Thursday was the first available viewing, she stated that Thursday was the next available viewing of the property from the time that you contacted her (earlier viewings had already been secured).

I am sorry to hear you were so disappointed with Contempo Lettings.
All our deposits are handled by Safe Deposit Scotland and the independent review of your check out report concluded that we were fully justified in the deductions we made to your deposit.
If you are unhappy with this ruling, then you can contact the Property Ombudsman of which we are members.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
