I had to deal with Connells for over 4 years. Horrible experience, NEVER again! Very unprofessional and rude on every single occasion I had to deal with them. Avoid them by all means.
They raised the rent by over 10% the day I was moving my furniture, eventhough we had agreed on the rent and my offer was what they asked for in the ad.
They failed to provide gas certificate even though I asked for it when I was smelling gas leakage. They refused to deal with the problem, dismissing my reports of gas smell. Upon the next boiler service, the engineer detects leakage and calls emergency services.
Heating broke down in mid-December. 2 children under the age of 10 in the house. Connells refused to fix heating claiming it is not an emergency!! They then tried to pass the cost to me and they would not call a plumber unless I agreed to pay for it. They only notified a plumber 3 days later and heating was fixed 4 days later.
Kitchen sink would leak water and flood the kitchen floor. They claimed I caused the problem when I had a dishwasher installed. They tried to pass the cost to me. Plumber came, fixed the problem, saying that one of the sink pipes was too short. Connells claimed that plumber reported it was my fault. After I contacted the plumber, Connells back down.
Connells kept sending letters to me claiming my rent was not paid on time. Rent was deducted from my account every month. While I sent them proof that rent was paid on time, they still kept harassing me. Only after the citizens advice bureau contacted them, did they send an apology.
Currently looking to sue them in county court.

They charged me higher fees than the ones we agreed to in writing. After I complained they had to refund.
