Taking ages to solve a problem. Even though my landlord lives in NZ, it is no excuse to take weeks for solving an issue. As an agent they should take more initiative! Same happened with the renewal of my contract. I was left in dark for weeks and I still would not know that I am under a so-called rolling contract if I hadn't called them several times. Interestingly, every time I called I was told the responsible person is out of house on a viewing. Why did he/she never call me back then?
I also want to be at home when they show possible future customers around my flat as I know that English agencies would not care when strangers open doors of cupboards or wardrobes with my personal belongings in there. However, AR-Lettings, though having told them several times already, arranged viewings BEFORE asking me and those viewings were always in the middle of the day when I am working. Unacceptable! Unfortunately, compared to my other experiences with British agencies, AR-Lettings is probably one of the better ones in Brighton.
Comment on agent fees
For just putting a signature under a contract and not taking care of the maintenance of the property: far way too much fees!!
