This is the review that I sent to eMoov, I have omitted the names of the people I was involved with. Just to provide context, I purchased a property from a seller who used eMoov as their agent.
I have found your service, levels of trust and professionalism to be extremely poor throughout the whole process and indeed, as first time buyers, have found that the '€˜service' I received only added to the intense pressure and stress of what should have been a relatively straight forward transaction in the eyes of our solicitor and mortgage advisor.
In fact, it was the professional view of our friends and family that are involved in conveyancing and law, that the way we were treated at times was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
One example of this was being asked to produce screenshots of my bank accounts as proof of funds for eMoov's records". Our solicitor and mortgage advisor said that this was highly unusual and as eMoov are a 3rd party in the transaction they have no need to be provided this information and would have had to have been legally drawn in.
Another example was the constant pressure to keep the process moving, which I appreciate is important for both parties but I believe that reasonable time should be accounted for us both given the exchanges between solicitors. However, I received many phone calls, at times on consecutive days within the first two weeks, in order to find out what was going on - which was ridiculous. This was incessant and incredibly prying into our situation, where eventually I would direct the agent to speak with my solicitor such that I did not trust how my information would be construed to the vendor.
I felt that it was also important to manage the sellers expectations and that a realistic timescale should have been given to them, but it was clear that this was not the case, we were advised by our solicitor that the process would take 6-8 weeks from when we first made contact with our solicitor, however we were told that the seller wanted to complete within 3-4 weeks. In the end, I believe the whole process took 9 weeks between placing an offer and completing which I have been led to believe is relatively quick.
In short, I will not be recommending eMoov to any friends or family nor will I ever consider using them in the future.
