Property Viewed : Apartment 509 Xq7 Building, Taylorson Street South, Salford, M5 3FN
Offer Roll Out for Apartment from Cartus (IBM Relocation Agent) : 24th Sep 2015
Viewed Property ** : 22nd Sep 2015.
During Property view it was clear from our side that we need the property till 31st Aug 2016 (my assignment end date). And he agreed on that. Based on that he charged 250 pounds as referencing fees which were handed over to him immediately to ensure that the property is taken off the market. He just signed on the back of his visiting card as no one was in office to give the receipt at that point.
Form was submitted on 25th Sep to Damian with all details. They assured us that we could move to the apartment around 2nd Oct 2015. Hence we had our hotel booking till then.
But around 5th Oct they came back and say that Owner is not ready to go for any break clause after 6 months (as per IBM policy) and minimum contract duration have to be 12 months. As it was not suitable for us, ***they approached the Agent to give back referencing fees when Rebecca behaved in very unethical way denying to give back the money showing the clause that I had signed that in case it does not work out the amount is non-refundable. Apart from that they deviated from various other points on the apartment amenities which they promised while viewing the property.I want authorities like AllAgents and government department for Real Estate Agents should take this up. Apart from that they should intervene to clear up this constraints like 6/12 months contract / no standardization on referencing fees, Agent fees all over UK. When housing market in the UK is struggling to meet its demand its more on part of authorities to bring in regulations so avoid such harassment and loss for tenants.
Comment on agent fees
Bad. 250 pounds for me and my husband when no referencing was required for my husband.
