Drake Homes appears to have ceased trading - and no surprise. Suspicions were raised in September this year when telephone calls and e-mails went unanswered. Enquiries of other agents and Trading Standards revealed that Drake Homes had something of a reputation for misappropriation of deposits and rental payments as well as failing to undertake even simple maintenance tasks. This prompted a visit to the office, where we encountered "Grace", a thoroughly unpleasant woman, and her equally evasive staff. "Heather" was nowhere to be found. We were treated to more lies and misinformation whilst a staff member hurriedly tried to transfer previously-paid deposits to the DPS (something which should have been done weeks before and which would have been lost had we not intervened). In short, landlords and tenants should be careful to avoid becoming involved in any future enterprises that Involve Heather Crabb or JDC (Plymouth) Ltd.
Comment on agent fees
The fee structure can only be described as "interesting" with unadvertised cash payments being demanded from tenants. Not good.

Having initially pleaded "Not Guilty" to charges of theft, false accounting etc, the horrible Crabb became the subject of a Debtor's Bankruptcy order on 3rd July 2018, and is now pleading "Guilty" as charged, along with her accomplice Jill Woods. I wonder whether anybody will get their money back now......
