My girlfriend and I had an offer accepted on a property three months ago. We were told we needed to pay a noteworthy deposit to the vendor which Cosway would hold on their behalf and that without this we could not move forward with the purchase. Reluctantly we agreed. Sadly, the vendor proved to be unhinged and never had any intention of selling the property and after two months with no progress we were forced to pull out of the sale.
As frustrating as this was for us both emotionally (we had moved out of our rental property and were living with family) and financially (we had spent approximately £2,000 on surveys and conveyancing), to make matters worse it became apparent that Cosway had not informed the vendor that they had taken a deposit despite making us sign and return a legal document to them. Only after four weeks of extreme legal pressure from both our and the vendor's solicitor in addition to contacting the police, did they return it to us. Their lack of ethical standards is startling; they have absolutely no regard for anyone but themselves.
This has been a horrible experience for us and has severely consumed our lives - we would strongly discourage any potential buyers or sellers from dealing with Cosway in the future.

As a buyer, we didn't pay fees - but as a potential seller - don't use them! Use any other agent - as they just won't sell your property, especially if they don't follow up with potential buyers.
