well... where to start with my review of this awful company and one terrible branch. They managed my property in a satisfactory way for several years until I think they recruited staff that couldn't give a damn, and they had too much work to deal with things correctly, so standards slipped. They allowed a tenant to move his wife and family into my property whilst his was the only name on the contract. As this was during the winter he lived there with the heating on high all day, creating so much condensation that mould started to develop on the walls. Of course I was expected to sort this out and rectify the problem. I served notice and they finally did a mid term inspection of the property-(a complete waste of time), a month before he moved out. On his check-out document there were many inaccuracies and they stated in glowing terms how well he had cleaned the property up and even cleaned the carpet. Their view was the decoration was the same when he left as when he arrived which was completely inaccurate. It seems that whatever they write on their check in/check out documents is taken as gospel regardless of how ridiculous it is. These documents are never new documents for each tenant they use the same one, sometimes not even changing the date. Yet as a landlord we have to pay for each one-such a rip-off, and basically paying for a work of fiction. When my last tenant moved out they incorrectly signed the document to say the washing machine was present when in fact it wasn't. On a previous change over they had identified a leak under the sink, yet did nothing about it until it had been going on so long that the vinyl flooring was lifted to dry it out, yet it was so rotten it couldn't be relaid. They never passed any messages onto other staff members, or tenants and never passed any messages from tenants on to me. It became impossible to get any information from them about my property and considering I was paying for a fully managed service this was disgraceful. In desperation I even wrote to the CEO of Bridgfords/Coutrywide who initially replied to my e-mails saying that she would fully investigate the issues I had raised, but luckily I didn't hold my breath as it turned out that she couldn't give a damn either. If you value your money and sanity and want some customer service for the money you pay do not EVER use this agent . It is only if people vote with their feet and go to other agents that they will have to start addressing their work processes. Until that time they will continue making money hand over fist for doing very little.
Comment on agent fees
fees are very high compared to other agents and they rip people off because they charge for things that are actually free such as moving onto a rolling contract once the end of a 6 month fixed term ends

Bridgfords don't charge to enter into a rolling contract, at all. They charge to enter into a new fixed term contract however as this involves drawing up new legal documents.

Don’t rent through Bridgfords, as a tenant they were awful to deal with and left me living with damp/mould and unsafe conditions for 18 months. The only time the issues were progressed was when I involved the council to act as an enforcing authority....

Just to add to the above, my partner and I arranged to view an apartment to let. The estate agent rang to confirm the appointment early afternoon so they were fully aware of the arrangements. I had taken the afternoon off and we patiently waited at the flat, and waited and waited. No show from them and no courtesy call to let us know they were tied up. Unfortunately it was Nathan that had arranged the viewing and confirmed he would be available to show us around. Yes I agree the worst estate age ...
