We approched Dexters for rental properties in Chiswick, they were ever so kind to show us a few, we saw one we liked. After being told by the agent that we could have this flat unfurnished, we put down a holding deposit that same day.
The agent says not a problem, so we fill out all the paper-work, send our bank details, employment- and landlord references etc.. all stressful stuff and time consuming. We signed the 36 months contract & Tenancy agreement and sent it over. The contract didn't mention that the flat was to be let unfurnished, so we made sure to add this condition.
A couple of days later, the agent comes back saying the landlandy wants to keep 2 sofa's inside the flat. They refused to put in writing that we would not be liable to pay for any damage that may occur to the sofas. We decided to make a compromise and agreed to keep them. The agent then contacts us again; with the audacity to ask if we (the prospective tenants), in addition to look after the sofas for the duration of the tenancy, could to take the beds & all other furniture from this 2nd-/1st floor flat to the rubbish dump at own expense!!!
It's clear that the flat was never going to be let unfurnished, yet Dexters proceeded with our application and was more than happy to collect a holding deposit from us on the spot. A great waste of our time, we do not recommend any dealings with this branch.

I agree avoid Dexters Chiswick - liars, schemers, they will play you. The general theme throughout is that they lie & you can't trust them. Georgina McConnell is a property manager at Chiswick who lies to her landlord clients & also her tenants, she trains Sarah Dowling who is like a rabid dog frothing at the mouth & throwing tantrums - she asks you questions & before you've responded she's yelling over the top of you. You'll change your mind once your tenancy has been underway for a while - they're lovely at the beginning, but once things go wrong, the property needs repair, you don't have electricity, hot water they will lie, cheat & be disgustingly rude to you. They do not seem to have a structure when it comes to fees. Do not assume that just because you've signed a paper or given your card details, that any fees or deposites will be taken. They don't. Not to be trusted.

I have to agree with you here. I'm trying Dexters for the second time (although I'm not holding out high hopes, and I have several back up plans in case things should hit the fan) and Tom Mclarnon was an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with when letting the property I am moving out of now. Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
