I found an ad about a room to let in 2 bedroom flat. I thought it would be okay to share because we are students and we can't afford the whole flat. I went to see the place and it was nice and I liked it. I asked the guy to give the agency to contact them about the contract. He gave me their email and their address. I went to the agency and they said we don't have such flat. I said there is an ad about it. The receptionist said Ross is responsible on this property and you have to talk with him tomorrow. I said okay, I came the next day and I was ask him politely about renting half the flat because it's two bedroom flat. He started to yell on me and saying that's unacceptable and it's illegal to do that. I told him I came through the agency what's illegal in that? He yelled again we don't have such thing and who is that guy who made the ad? I told him first don't yell, you have to respect me and second he is on his way. He said I apologise but (continue yelling) I don't expect someone to walk in and tell me about something I don't know. I replied there is a polite way to say I don't know about that I have to speak with that person. When the guy came, Ross told him it's not your property to ad for it, the guy replied and said you told me that, I told you I can't afford the whole rent and you told me to make an ad for it . Ross said I don't remember that, anyway he handed me an application form to fill and told me he is going to contact the landlord. A week later nobody contacted me so I called them. A rude guy replied to me and said the application was unsuccessful and the landlord didn't like such behaviour I told him which behaviour, he said renting the place without telling the agency, I replied nevermind thank you. I went next day to the agency and I entered with big smile and said hi I want my application and my documents back. The receptionist replied your application was unsuccessful, don't you know that. I replied yes I know that's why I came to take my application and my documents. She said well, we throw it away. I told her why? She said because the application was unsuccessful , I told her so? She said we throw the application. I told her when the application was unsuccessful , your job is to contact or email me to tell me that but you didn't and now you are telling me you thrown my application, I will not leave without them. She said how can I bring them, I told her I want a proof. She said give me a minute, she went to Ross and he replied tell her we shredded them. She came with a big smile on her face and said well we shredded them, I told her that's indicate how awful is this agency. First you don't contact me about my unsuccessful application And now you are telling me you shredded my application and my documents, they don't belong to you they belong to me and I want them now. Ross came and said hi how can I help? I told hi I want my application and my documents back. He said the application form is ours we gave it to you , I replied and the documents are mine and I want them back. He said give me a second he went and brought the documents but they were crushed. I told him thank you he said see you later, I said I don't think so, I don't want to deal with such awful agency and rude people.

Thanks for the heads up. I had already started a file when I saw this comment, so I was resolved to turn down whatever offer they came at me with. I was curious to see not if but how he would try to scam me. Ross has stepped up his game. His proposal looked just legal enough to be tempting except for the fact that it was TOTALLY ILLEGAL according to the Tenancy Act of 2019. This act puts a:
