As a tenant, I do my best to ensure that the properties I inhabit are kept at a high standard. After living in one of their properties for two years, I moved out and this is when the trouble began. I was emailed by a letting agent who stated that my house had dilapidations that needed repairing and proceeded to try and charge me over £300 for these repairs. I was emailed by a very rude, unhelpful member of staff who did not explain in any detail how I could get my deposit back, or what to do if I was unhappy with the amount being charged. She proceeded to argue with me over email, when a simple professional reply would have sufficed. When I requested that the fee to go arbitration, as this amount was completely irrational compared to the minor repairs required, she explained that the arbitrator usually sides with the independent clerk who checks the property and makes recommendations. Essentially, she was pressuring me to not bother with arbitration and let them deduct their nonsensical fee. I felt pressured, backed into a corner, and very confused with the entire process. I received no assistance from Newland Rennie throughout my stay in the property and their constant three monthly checks were, quite frankly, unnecessary and intrusive. Moreover, they once entered my property without making myself aware to install a new electrical socket whilst allowing the electrician to leave his debris and tools all over my kitchen work top.

In all, I would under no circumstances recommend this agent, especially the Newport branch, as they charge a completely unnecessary inflated fee for repairs and their staff are rude, snooty, and unhelpful. I will be making a formal complaint against this member of staff for her argumentative and, quite frankly, childish attitude toward me.
Comment on agent fees
Terrible fees. Bond was too steep and then they tried to take more than half from me for expected wear and tear.

Everything sounded great until the fee was paid, when I quickly realised how bad they were. First day at my new home, I open the door, and I see the last tenants have left a lot of their stuff here, and that nobody has cleaned ...

Comment on agent fees
These are objectively very high fees compared to the national average. There are agents in London with lower fees than NR.

This company is so bad at communication it is almost laughable (if it weren't frustrating).. As a Tenant they basically ignore you. Whether you phone or email them, basic repairs, or anything you ask is ignored, it just disappears into a black hole. Would never recommend. They need to sort themselves out and actually respond to people. You may as well be talking to a brick wall. An expensive brick wall. Shame! ...
