Very poor service from Midlands Letting. Their attitude towards student accommodation is appalling. Disorganised bookkeeping was very apparent. This lead to aggressive voicemails being left on my phone, when Midland believed that I had not returned my keys at the end of the tenancy. However, they keys has been returned many weeks before and the problem lay solely at their door. They themselves had lost the keys but desperately wanted to put the blame on myself. To this day, I have still not received an apology for the manner in which I was spoken to. Not only was this an issue at the end of the tenancy. Twice during the year, was I contacted by a member of staff to say that they had "lost" my cheques for the rent. Their terrible bookeeping meant that I had to bank transfer the money that same day. For students this is a very difficult request, especially when once again, the fault was completely theirs! Furthermore, during our tenancy, a chair which needed replacing due to general wear and tear, was taken away and never returned to us for the rest of the year. This meant that not all tenants were able to sit at the kitchen table for the most of our tenancy. Also, during the period when new tenants viewed the house, numerous times were we told that there would be a viewing at a certain time. Not only was this very short notice, but it was also unacceptable that these viewings would not even take place! This inconvenience meant that frequently the tenants would change their plans to cooperate with Midlands but be repeatedly disappointed. Very unhappy with their overall service.

Hi Miranda I am sorry that you felt our services failed to meet your expecatations. It disturbs me that you suggest we went against the terms of the contract, without a doubt that is not what we do. We provide a service that allows our clients to have their views heard if they feel they have issues that have not been handled accordingly. Dear Graham, Thank you for your review, in this case the Landlord or the Agent were not at fault. The "Banging in the pipes" was due to an air lock within the water system of the building which we had initially advised you of. The Managing Agents are responsible for the maintenance of the building and they have confirmed this problem has been rectified. I'm truly sorry to read your review. I have looked in to this and can confirm that we have followed the reference checking steps that we follow for all tenants. Not only did we receive references, we validated them. I'm not sure what your understanding may be of a basic reference though. In particular, your tenants were from overseas, therefore, a historic check could not be carried out given they would have been living in another country. I am sorry that you feel the need to write such a review. Our tenancy agreement is very transparent and our fees are disclosed in advance before you enter into tenancy. The only fee that you would pay during the tenancy is where your rent is in arrears and interest is charged at the request of the landlord, or a contract renewal fee is payable should you extend your tenancy, I cannot find trace on our live system of a property that we deal with at B9. How odd that Midland have suddenly become interested in responding to comments on this site and, simultaneously, started getting positive reviews! I think you treat student tenants badly because they are an easy target and don't tend to stay in the city long enough to give you a bad reputation. Dear Ross, RE housemate in breach of contract: this was not because we had fallen out with our housemate, it was because he had breached three pear are parts of the contract and we alerted Midland Letting who ignored it. RE slug infestation: we reported this problem, and nothing was done about it. The letting agents did nothing, and the landlord did nothing. So my comment is still valid. RE rent payment: I was not behind on my rent. I was due to pay rent when my student finance came through. ...
