I agreed to let a flat from Gatekeepers just over six months ago. When we went to see the flat it was in an awful condition with black mould on all 4 bedroom walls as well as on the ceiling. The bathroom, kitchen and living rooms walls and ceilings were similarly in an awful condition.
On the viewing it was made clear to us that the flat was going to be extensively renovated.
A few days before moving in, weeks after paying Gatekeepers hundred of pounds in fees and passing all of the checks we were informed that the flat wouldn't be renovated or decorated in any way. We were told that we could withdraw.
Obviously in the week before moving we were, as the vast majority of people would be, unable to come up with an alternative property. We were packed and literally loading out things into a van.
Gatekeepers knew this, and acted incredibly poorly by not honouring the contact.
This cynical dishonest behaviour meant that for the past 6 months my girlfriend and I have lived in a mouldy damp unpleasant flat. It was a great relief to finally move out. We feel cheated and mislead. The contact we signed stated the work would be done and it wasn't.
There was not a single gesture of goodwill other than a parting gift and final insult when over £250 pounds of our deposit was kept for spurious dishonest reasons.
I would strongly recommend any prospective parties to avoid this dishonest company. The reviews on their website are all glowing - but here are far from it. Further evidence of their duplicitous nature.
Funnily enough, we were never able to leave a review on Gatekeepers misleading website despite asking numerous times (all in documented emails)
I feel so strongly about the cynical, dishonest and disreputable conduct of Gatekeepers I'm currently considering all of legal remedies available.
Furthermore - I'm going to do all that I can to warn others about this dishonest company - on every forum and at every available opportunity.
Ps - the property is currently listed for rental as being immaculate - by Gatekeepers. No doubt the very same scam will be used to rent out the grim property. ( 100 Masters House, Coxhill way, Aylesbury )
