My experience with Sheffield Residential as a Land lord over the past two years has been negative and I regard Sheffield Residential as an untrustworthy agent.
The Letting Agency sent a general email to the landlords to inform them that they could opt out the insurance if they did not want it. Being a busy person, I did not read their general newsletters and emails and I deleted them as they arrived in my mail box. Therefore, I missed the message about opting out their insurance. The reason for this is because I had already got cover from a different insurance company for the repair of my property. Hence, I subsequently contacted the Agency and discussed it with a Director who rejected my reasoning and would not refund my money.
As it had come to the end of the tenancy, the tenants did not report any fault of my property. However, the insurance cover was still valid at the time and I had contacted the agent and made a claim. The allocated property manager ignored me completely. Although he promised on the phone that he would do everything he could for me, he never carried out any action whatsoever. When the tenants were moving out, he just asked the tenants to drop the keys to the Agency's office. He never went to my property to inspect. Although I am only reporting this incident, there are however many other incidents which happened in the last two years' period, including over charging me for some minor repairs. My conclusion is that the Agency is untrustworthy and unreliable. To my mind, it is probably the worst Letting Agency I have ever dealt with. I have reservations regarding the number of awards they claim they have received for being a good Letting Agency. I will not recommend this agent to anyone.
