We put our property on the market in February and I do have to say that I have not been at all impressed, as follows:
1 A photograph of our large garden looked as if it was a field. I know it was taken in February but, when I suggested they come and take another in the early Summer, when it was looking magnificent, the agent said they would do so if they got a viewing! They couldn't be bothered to come up and take a new photo.
2 When they did do a viewing they did not leave the house neat and tidy as we had done. Doors were left wide open and curtains pulled right back for example.
3 The agents were extremely lacking in communication. We didn't have many viewings and we could go for weeks without even the courtesy of a phone call keeping us informed.
4 On one viewing the agent forgot to make a note of the burglar alarm code and consequently the viewing had to be abandoned. We did normally turn the alarm off before a viewing but on this one occasion we forgot. However the agent should have been prepared.
5 Only a few hours after the referendum vote an agent rang us and said that the office had been 'inundated' with clients who wanted to reduce the price of their property and we should be doing the same right away. I consider that rank opportunism.
6 On Tuesday last a friend arrived to congratulate us on selling our house. It turned out that one of the two signs had been changed to 'sold'. I rang the office who said that the property had not been sold and that it was a mistake. I asked them to remove it immediately, since the sign might deter possible buyers. Three days later it was still there so I rang and asked them to ensure it was removed that day. It was still there last night so I had to take it down myself. This has distressed my wife greatly.
