I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Wish I could give 0 stars! This company tries to take advantage of students and believes we have little knowledge which is not the case. I really do not know where to start. I moved into an unclean flat, with DVDs, paper and other items on top of the wardrobe. In the winter, I came back to my flat with the previously locked bedroom doors wide open, I thought it had been a break in and I found hairs on my bed, however that was not the case, it turns out, Westmanor had given the keys to our flat to another estate agent who did not ask any permission to enter our flat, which is not allowed and the contract states 24 hour notice must be given. I have had continuous emails with Westmanor in which they have been unhelpful and this continues up to today in trying to get my deposit back, I had a simple query for the finance department, I have forwarded the email twice with no answer and my query has not been responded too. Let me give you a brief run through of what it might be like using Westmanor Student Living or what it was like for me: days without water as the office closes on weekends and bank holidays and they state the emergency number is only to call if you are locked out and with this there is a charge. Days without lights due to ceilings being too high you cannot change them yourself and no one responding to contact forms although Westmanor insist this is how you should go about reporting a problem. Expect to submit more than one contact form and do not expect maintenance issues to be handled with any sort of urgency or organisation, once the plumber turned up and informed us Westmanor had sent him to a completely different building twice instead of ours. Do not expect your deposit back within the 6 weeks turnaround, the statement may be sent out on the last day of the 6 weeks but you will not receive the money and although you may pay for this deposit via bank transfer such as myself expect it back via cheque.
I am truly disgusted this is a student company because they take every opportunity to rip students off including the direct deposit fee simply to pay your bills and the money they take off your deposit no matter how clean you have left your flat. Try to take pictures before you move in and before you leave the flat so you have proof, and save all communication.
I will shortly be sending an email to my University about Westmanor in hopes they can discourage other students from using the services and going through what I and so many others have gone through, the Google ratings says it all.
Oh, I forgot to mention when we moved in there were little flies coming from the drain! When I told the plumber they were drain flies (it took a few attempts to get him out to the flat) he said no. However, surprisingly after he cleaned the drain of the previous occupants hairs, the flies disappeared.
What agent could do to change your mind?
