Allen and Harris Pontcanna (parent company Sequence) have been the worst lettings agent I have ever had to deal with.
Firstly, we signed up for 12 months and at the end of the 12 months we decided to stay on for a little bit while we looked to buy a house. We were offered two very limiting options: either commit to another 12 months or commit to 6 months followed by a rolling two-month contract. Either option carried a £140 renewal fee! Please be aware that this fee applies at every contract renewal so we have now handed in notice before the end of the current period. We would rather move than pay this extortionate £140 contract renewal fee.
Secondly, a fence panel blew down in November. We contacted them and they said they will contact the landlord. No fence repairs. In February (three months later), another fence panel came down. Again, we called to sort this. Nothing. Absolutely nothing was done. In June (seven months later!) the neighbour moved out and their landlord came round to sort the place and replaced the fence panels himself. Allen and Harris / Sequence did nothing in seven months, even after repeated requests.
All of this on top of the patronising six-monthly 'inspections'. In summary, avoid Allen and Harris Pontcanna. They overcharge for their fees and you get nothing back in return. I do not expect my full deposit back even though the property is clean and like it was when we started renting.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Expensive fees. And a really expensive contract renewal fee of ‚£140!
