All round unorganised. After initially moving in we were given the wrong postbox key, after 3 months of constant emails without resolution it took threatening to terminate the contract for the issue to be resolved - by which point we had received court summonings for ignoring council letters that we were unaware of. When eventually they sort this they then tried to charge us for loss/damage of the original postbox key - whether this was lack of communication within their office or an intentional money making attempt I'm unsure. Upon moving in the flat stank of stale cigarettes and cigarette ash was on the bed and in the sink. The mattress was stained and unusable. After moving a piece of bedroom furniture we discovered a giant patch of mould hidden behind it. The were also toadstools growing in the corner of the other bedroom, again initially hidden by furniture. Our branch on Deansgate closed down without notifying us meaning we had to chase up and find our new point of contact. We then asked if it would be possible to terminate the contract early to which the response told us we were able to at no additional costs. After leaving the property we received notification of outstanding rent and were told that it was a mistake that we had been told we would not need to pay extra costs and that their new tenant had fallen through, despite none of this having been mentioned when the keys were returned. On top of this, they are now fighting to take additional money for cleaning costs (despite the flat being left in a far better condition than we received it in). They also attempted to add on 'light bulb' charges, that had all been replaced before we left. It seems as we have disputed their claims for them to withold over £1000 deposit, they have added more onto this, justifying it by saying the new tenants will not be moving in until 3 days after the rent due date. Throughout all of these issues, we have constantly had to chase up due to lack of response.
