Having rented through Connells for alomost three years, I have experienced very mixed levels of customer service. Our dealings at branch level were brief as they passed maintenance issues onto a centralised office once the initial paperwork and handover was complete, but we found the staff at the Banbury branch very helpful when we took on the property (in September 2013). We've had several maintenance contacts during our time with Connells and for the first couple of years the service and communication was appalling; e-mails were continually ignored by our contacts within the maintenance office, incorrect information was given to us on many occasions and it was a lengthy procedure for them to rectify even minor issues. Things have improved immensely over the last few months, in particular with our current maintenance contact*. Denise is extremely helpful and efficient, maintaining excellent communication between ourselves and the landlord. We will be leaving this property in September 2016 and were a little disappointed to be told by the branch that if we were to find another property to rent with Connells, we would still need to pay the full fees that new tenants are subject to. This is disappointing as we have been good, reliable tenants. There seems to be no incentive to remain with Connells. Connells renewal fees (when continuing another 6/12 month contract in the same property) are also extortionate, considering it is all done electronically now and is a generic contract with only one section for additional 'special clauses' (which did not apply to us anyway).
Comment on agent fees
As per my review comments, renewal fees are too high and not enough is done to encourage tenants to stay with Connells when moving into another property, as you are subject to the same fees as new tenants.

Comment on agent fees
As per my review comments, renewal fees are too high and not enough is done to encourage tenants to stay with Connells when moving into another property, as you are subject to the same fees as new tenants.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Get their act together! Their service is shocking, so put some standards and processes in place and select your personnel better. Have reliable, professional, knowledgeable people who actually care work for you!
