An employee of Mantle estates got my email address, without my consent and contacted me saying that he had potential clients waiting to view my property. I entered into an agreement and a bidding war followed. I was told that an investor who wanted to buy-to- let my flat was the best buyer and would complete swiftly and as I was paying council tax, mortgage, utilities and later storage, I agreed. What followed was 4 months of complete farce, during which the price changed, without any written notification or signed agreement from me and the final price I received was lower than promised. My flat was being advertised in the rental section of mantle estates before completion and I feel I was coerced into lowering the price to benefit the buyer and yet I had to pay the commission.
What agent could do to change your mind?
They took one thousand pounds off the fees, but the amount I got for my property was less than originally promised and no good reason for this was given.
