We were looking to sell a property which we had rented out for ten years and was not in an area we know well. We approached six agents using Zoopla and after discussing the prospective transaction, we rejected all of the corporate agents and had more detailed discussions with two locally-owned agencies.
Scott Morland of Focus were clearly head and shoulders above any of the others in his local knowledge and his approach to dealing with the matter. His valuation was realistic and later proved to be spot on. We made an arrangement and hoped that the back up services and staff at his office would prove to be up to the standard he set.
I'm pleased to say that the transaction could not have gone more smoothly. Aaron and Scott ensured that pressure was applied where necessary, mostly without any prompting from us, to ensure that the transaction was completed in the 2015-2016 tax year as this would be advantageous to ourselves.
I'm pleased to report that, thanks to the people at Focus Residential and despite problems caused by the bucket shop solicitor's firm acting for the purchasers, the transaction was completed on the last day of the financial year.
As far as Focus was concerned, cooperation and communications were both excellent.
In short, we could not have had better service.
Comment on agent fees
A very reasonable fee was quoted providing that the service would prove to be excellent and it certainly was.
Proof if any were needed that cutting corners ( like, for example, using celebrity-promoted internet estate agents ) is not a good idea : As in everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
