I used to rent from Hancocks about 3 years ago. At the time I would have never used them again. It took ages for me to get anything fixed by them and when I eventually tried to get my deposit back which I paid Hancocks I had to try and claw it back from the Landlady - 6 months later I had to get a solicitors letter to her demanding my deposit back with no help from Hancocks, they were useless and I vowed I would never use them again. 3 Years down the line to my dismay I find that instead of paying my rent to my new landlord I accidently put £850 CASH into Hancock's account instead of my own landlord (They both bank with Barclays this is when the confusion lay) To my dismay I realized my error and was horrified to find out of all the companies, I had accidently put it into Hancock's account which as I already knew they where not a nice company to deal with. I spoke to someone I wont say a gentleman as that is not what he was called Ian, I explained my predicament and hoped that he would repay my money as most normal and hummane people would maybe with £5-£10 as a small charge for their in connivance.
I only earn £1200 a month and I have a small child so getting this money back was very important and hoped they would be reasonable. He said he would issue a cheque and I was relived as there still was hope for Hancock's yet. To my dismay I received a cheque two days later with only £820 - £30 short!!!! ADMIN FEES, they say????!!!! They charged me £30 to write a cheque to benefit from my my misfortune.... Lesson learned again so heed my warning this is the kind of company Hancocks are, They have no issue in stealing from the poor and befitting out of people, There charges are ridiculous and as I have used them before as a letting agent I can also say they were rubbish at that too - As you can see there is not a lot going for Hancocks and they will rip you off. They could have done a bank transfer which would have cost them nothing. £30 TO WRITE A CHEQUE!!
I tell everybody the experience I had with them and even put one of my customers of selling his 8 bedroom house with them - Did I get my £30 back - No but I feel like I have as I look after 300 companies in Chichester and surrounding areas and tell them all my story, they were all appalled suffice to say I think I will get my £30's worth and more back in making people aware what kind of company they are. I will repeat this story as long as I live!

Reasonably pleased with the fees as they were cheaper than Johnson Wood and others. Still feel that agent fees for tenants are really bad news when one thinks the rent being paid.

Repaired items efficiently. Ensure hose was clean and fit for purpose when we moved in. Reply to correspondence. Be efficient.

I have the same problem. Stuck with a property that has it's health issues, landlord doesn't even want to hear about it, the staff is awful and rude, the manager doesn't even know what he is doing, he lies all the time!!! Be aware and do not use them no matter the property!!! ...
