Very unhappy, very bad experience with all aspects. The agency was only kind up to the moment when I put down the 500‚£ reservation money. From that moment on, hell begins. First they try to put me in with the landlord even though the ad clearly said outlive landlord. They try to tell me that "this is the landlord's son, not the landlord", and threaten they won't give me back the 500‚£ if I decide to give up and they don't have any other rooms in the same price range. This takes a couple of days and Matthew from the agency is very rude, acting "surprised" why it's such a big deal to live with the landlord's son. Finally in one phone call I say I will take them a small-claims court and then they "suddenly" find another room in the same price range. Of course I paid them 1.5 months deposit and whatever agency fees they asked I don't remember how much, for the first room. But since the second room was cheaper, they were ought to return some 300-400 pounds to me. They didn't do that until several months later when I remembered it and reminded them, and then M* acted surprised like he forgot about that and only then initiated the return. Anyway, so I move to the flat, and the flat doesn't have internet from the first day. I immediately call the agency and they act very cold (Ma* again), saying I should call the landlord directly (!?). They give me the landlord's phone number (!?). From that moment on I'm chasing the landlord for another 2 months and never get the internet working, even though I even call the internet company, stay for hours on the line at my own expense. For 6 months. I used my mobile internet connection, and so did other tenants. The Agency never acted on our multiple complaints. Then upon expiry of 6 months contract I get the letter from the agency that says if I wish to stay after 6 months, I need to pay 95‚£ for renewal of the contract! Do they know how much 95‚£ is, and taking that amount of money for just renewal is a rip-off. So I decide to leave the room. Well, leaving the room costs another 95‚£, which I would pay again even if I had decided to stay and paid those 95‚£. So I wait for the return of the deposit, at least I paid 95‚£ only once. But they don't do anything regarding my deposit unless I call the customer services and push them. For each step you need to push them. 18 days from my leave, they still haven't returned the deposit. They say they are waiting for the landlord to clean the room and give them an invoice for cleaning, which they will charge ME again, so checkout 95‚£ is nothing else but taking a look at the room and fixing documentation, and I have to pay for cleaning on top of that. They did a thorough photo session of my tiny room, noticing even "dusty shades" that need to be cleaned, black spots on the carpet etc. When I call them and tell them this is a rip-off, and the cleaning should be included in the 95‚£ checkout, they tell me it's all in the agreement I signed. When I signed the agreement, they gave me the copy only once I was in the office and after I paid for the reservation, so I couldn't give up, and plus they stand and look at you while you read it, so you don't have time to have a good look. Absolutely disgusting way of working I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Matthew, Esme, big boss, everybody, you make people's lives miserable and shame on you.
