We currently rent a two bedroom property though Homeguard and are very happy with it and the service they provide. Straight from the initial viewing they have been very professional and efficient. They contact our landlords quickly whenever issues arise and Sheena especially has been very helpful.
The only down sides so far have been that the flat wasn't very clean when we moved in. It looked acceptable on the surface but when we opened the drawers, went to use the under-bed storage or lost our phone down the side of the sofa... We were in for a treat of human hair, dog hair and other things. I believe this issue was raised with the cleaning company and am content it has been dealt with.
We also had no working oven for a month which they have apologised for yet never explained why the repair took so long.
We also had unexpected scaffolding up outside our extremely large windows while roofing works were carried out which wasn't ideal. Our landlords were very apologetic about the fact we hadn't been informed and agreed to pay to have the windows cleaned - unfortunately the member of staff I initially spoke to at Homeguard was less caring and simply informed me "it is not their policy to inform prospective tenants of external works". - Even when this means people and their builders bums looking into your property and shouting outside your single glazed windows from 8am for 6 weeks.
I'm glad we checked our inventory as it lists our single glazed windows as double glazed and our mattresses as new. The mattresses are absolutely not new, in fact they are stained and have springs poking through on both sides. It had several items listed incorrectly and a lot of damaged furnishings had been missed - however Homeguard didn't make any issue of our amendments.
Compared to other letting agents in Aberdeen, Homeguard have been a dream to deal with so far. I had my doubts initially due to the lack of reviews online but it turns out no news maybe is good news!
