Dexters Kingston are Bullies.
I signed their Letter of Agreement on a Monday and emailed it back to them, online and tried to cancel the agreement 2 days later and was told it would be put on hold and I said No, I want to cancel and was told by them I'd need to pay a Withdrawal fee of around £1160! This is ridiculous as we have a right to cancel within 14 days of signing if it's not signed in their office and The Property Ombudsman Code of Practice clearly states they we have a right to cancel! I've spoken to a number of different estate agents and to the Property Ombudsman directly and they all agree I have a right to cancel. They wrote to me 5 days after I signed and said because they're removing my property from the market within the contractual period I need to pay - but it was NEVER put on their market to begin with! They haven't spoken to me about EPCs, no floor measurements have been taken, no photos have been taken! It's so early on in the process that I cancelled before any of this started!
their Terms & Conditions does not mention ANYWHERE about Right of Cancellation, I've seen Your Move and Curchods' contracts and they have info on there about Notice to Cancel, etc. but Dexters don't mention this.
There are supposed to have everything agreed in writing upfront for me before I sign if they want to charge me anything during the 14 day cancellation period which they have not done. They are a member of the Property Ombudsman yet they are in breach of the Code of Practice!
They said they would kindly waive this fee if I choose to market with them again when I want to sell. I don't want to use them, ever now!
Just read a few other reviews on here about Dexters and shocked to read others too, have suffered at the hands of them being so unprofessional*. They are bullying me into selling with them and I'm not comfortable with that!
I am still in dispute with them and hope they will back down as I will be taking matters further. Other estate agents told me to report them to Office of Fair Trading too because of the way they are conducting business and refusing my right to cancel.
Arghhhh! I will not be recommending them!
