There is simply nothing positive I can say about sherlock homes, the entire team are unhelpful and at times rude, they are simply money grabbing jobs worths and have no idea how to talk to clients and can clearly not run the company.
When my cousin and I first moved into the property it had not been cleaned and was full of damp and mould hiding behind the furnishings, when this as explained to Sherlock Homes and it took them 9 months to even come and assess the situation! When assessed it took them another month to come and fix the issue, leaving behind two holes in the wall, a broken bath fitting, and a stain on one of the bedroom carpets, when this was reported to Sherlock Homes I was informed that we had no proof that it was the workmen had done this and we as the tenants would need to sort these issues or we would be charge when we left the property. I therefore fixed and repaired what I could and when leaving the property in March 2014 the flat was immaculate, with newly painted walls, no mould, carpets cleaned, laminate floors scrubbed, and everything on the original itinerary cleaned and back into place (I even left my new mattress as the one they provided was horrendous!!) I asked if I could be present at the leaving inspection and was told I was more than welcome to do this and they would contact me to ARRANGE a time and date, this did not happen, instead I was told on the day of the inspection they would be there at 13:00 Hours, I was given 2 hours notice and I was working full time and on a 12 Hour shift when they left this message, I was told there was nothing they could do and it was only a request that I be there I didn't need to be there, because of this I was then charged £290 pounds to apparently clean the flat as there was dust on the intercom and crumbs under the toaster, there was items in the cupboard that were not on the itinerary and there was post on the floor (this was the wording used from the exit inspection)... I disputed this for several months asking for proof in the form of photographic evidence (they refused to provide) I then had to provide confirmation of my new residence, confirmation that I had transferred all bills and confirmation that any outstanding bills were being paid or paid before they would consider releasing my deposit.
I had simply had enough by this point and backed down and agreed to have the money deducted from our deposit, however by this point nearly 7 Months later I then had to provide all my evidence again as I had moved a further time. Once this was provided I was told I would receive the amount left roughly £305, however we are now 18 Months down the line and I am still no closer to receiving said deposit, as all members of the team have no idea what is happening and most of the time do not reply to emails, my last contact with them I was told that I had not paid my last bill of £54 pounds as we were leaving part way through the month, however before I could leave the property I had to go to the office in Chorlton to hand in both sets of keys and make the payment which I have a receipt for, they then went on to state that this was true but we still owed £305 which they couldn't tell me what this was for. I have a feeling they have looked at this wrong and that is actually what I am owed not what I owe them.
I would stay well clear of these so called 'estate agents'!! Horrendous experience and would never recommend them!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Far too much needs improving but heres a few
Better communication between staff and their tenants
Actually providing evidence as to how and why you came to these decisions
When tenents provide evidence that they have not done something (holes in the wall) instead of making up some reason why I isnt your staff maybe just fix the issue, considering you find it very diffcult to provide evidence yourselves
Give the tenant chance to rectify the problems before they leave the property (although I have proof there wasn't anything to rectify)
Instead of lying and saying what the tenant whats to hear i.e once youve sent this in we can send out your cheque, maybe explain there are futher issues that need to be dealt with this reduces the amount of times the tenant has to ring

Comment on agent fees
Charged a ridiculous amount for admin fees when first entering the property
Charged a further ridiculous amount when leaving the property without providing evidence as to why (toast crumbs on the side does not take ‚£260 pounds to clean!!!!!!)
