Our experience with this estate agent was terrible. As prospective students looking to rent a house, we approached C P Walker assuming them to be quite reputable in the area. However, we soon realised this was a facade, as their service and staff members were absolutely dreadful!!!!!!!!
When we went to go view our first house with this estate agent, we got lost and called them to notify them of our delay. However, when we reached the house 10 minutes late, Jade stood waiting with her arms folded and with a hostile scowl on her face. We apologised for being late, yet she refused to show us the second house which was right next door. She showed us the first house within 5 minutes and refused to answer any of our questions, and left angry shouting 'don't be flippin late next time!'. We were appalled by her terrible hostile aggressive manner and poor customer service skills! We were reluctant to work with them.
We had postponed looking for a house due to exams but due to pressure of term ending we were becoming desperate and were forced to return to them. Then when went to view more houses with them, Jade met us to help us view the property, however on several occasions she was LATE by more than 10 minutes!!!!!! How shameless of her and what a hypocrite, yet we remained silent. She also spoke badly of tenants already residing in C p Walker houses, she stated that 'there was many students who were moaning about noise for no reason, its student houses so what do they expect?!' How unprofessional!
Then when we had agreed on a house, there was several adjustments we wanted: a bookcase to be added and a security alarm to be added and a fence to surround our property. We had paid an admin fee of 150 pounds in total- HOWEVER THIS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY.
They had taken the property off the market and had drafted the contract without our consent and forced my friend to pay the FULL deposit before amending the contract, on both of our behalfs, which was very unprofessional. They hadn't even realised that we had not paid the admin fee for 2 months! Then we had to chase them for 3 months to amend the contract and to pass on our requests to the landlord. The service was so slow and at most we paid 150 pounds for 5 phone calls made by C.P Walker!
Anyway, C P walker returned half of my friends deposit money, after she complained. However they FORCED her to sign the contract before the holidays.
Then i was ill during the summer and rang this estate agent to query about what WOULD happen if i pulled out. Stephen one of the employees was very rude on the phone and said that we were 'messing them around' what cheek i thought!!! Then he said that I would have to pay the full rent for the whole year, which was a LIE as we hadn't paid the full deposit so we werent tied to the property. I had agreed on the phone to stephen to allow one more day to think. However an hour later, I recieved a message from Dan Walker saying that we were messing them around and that he would be returning our money and putting the property back on the market! Leaving my friend to look for a new property from scratch again. They were very rude on the phone and I think the fact we were students allowed them to give frankly shit customer service and be rude!
So basically we had lost 150 pound of our student money on terrible so called admin fees!
